Contraception
Demographic pressure is an acute problem. Often portrayed as a problem of global scale in the media, the consequences for the affected on the ground are far more concrete: sufferers are mostly women who, without access to contraceptives - western methods are too expensive - are bearing more children than the earning power of the family (i.e. the woman) allows. This problem is similar in most poor countries.
Dr Hengstberger of Aktion
Regen has developed a simple contraceptive device. A simple necklace with beads in different colours enables women to take control of their fertility. LAAFI funds and distributes such necklaces through the CSPS in the region - the first reactions are enthusiastic.
