Bush hospital in Doundouni
Doundouni is a village in the same district as Sané, a few miles away. In 1997, the head of the Medical Centre in the district capital Thanghin Dassouri presented the village to us. The local community had managed to build a dispensary from its own funds, whereby little contributions were collected from every citizen over several years.
After completion, the state sent a health worker and midwife, who immediately started work. The procurement of the basic equipment for the institution however was beyond the financial capacity of the village community. We decided to contribute a one-off sum for the procurement of the missing equipment and thereby helped to make an existing institution considerably more efficient.
