Sensitisation through theatre
Theatre and puppet theatre are traditional media an West Africa and much appreciated among children and adults alike. Stories are told with a lot of wit and charm and often carry a clear educational message. Theatre therefore is an ideal medium to transmit sensitisation topics, be it AIDS prevention, traffic safety or the benefits of school education.
Several of the children who grew up at AMPO have developed a talent for puppet theatre. With support from the United Nations Women's Guild, LAAFI has initiated a project aiming to get important educational messages to villages in Burkina Faso. Furthermore, we thereby help the theatre crew to expand their programme and establish themselves as independent performers.
